Wilson Sports Scholarship

Posted 131 Months Ago

Heriot-Watt University’s Sports Academy and the Centre for Sport and Exercise provide a supportive environment to help develop individuals at all levels from recreational physical activity through to elite sports performance. The Sports Academy includes an indoor astrodome, physiotherapy and rehabilitation suite, six full-sized UEFA football pitches and a Sports Science and Sports Medicine Centre. The Centre for Sport and Exercise includes three multi-purpose sports halls, three floodlit tennis courts, climbing wall, squash courts, Nautilus suite, and cardiovascular suite. In order to support more individuals with a disability to make use of these facilities, the Wilson Sports Scholarship has been created.

This Scholarship will be available to both undergraduates and postgraduates who have a physical or sensory disability or mental health issues.

The Scholarship will fund:

  • One full gym membership to benefit the student per year.
  • 30 hours of personal training for one hour per week to support a disabled student's use of the Sport and Exercise facilities

The Wilson Sports Scholarship will focus on encouraging achievement and enabling the student to enhance their sport and fitness ability at a recreational or performance level. It is aimed at increasing the confidence of the recipient and to support full integration into university life. Applications will be assessed for interest in recreational and performance sport.

The Wilson Sports Scholarship will be awarded to either a first year undergraduate student or those on a full time one year postgraduate course in September 2014.
